Hello all –
I want to let you know I’m taking a little time off from daily blogging. I’ve decided I’d like to devote some time and energy to other things – namely my physical health.
Almost five years ago I was about to run my first half marathon and I could bench press almost 100 pounds. Then I went to grad school, wrote a dissertation, and spent a year recovering from it all. Needless to say, it’s taken a toll on my fitness level. As those of you who blog daily (or often) know, it can consume a considerable amount of time and energy. My plan is to redirect this time and energy to getting myself back in shape.
Writing has become an important part of my life, so I’m not giving it up! I’ll still write when I feel I have something to say (or ask), and I’ll still be posting some photos that I take from time to time. Most importantly, I’ll still be reading your blogs. Although it sounds odd, I feel like I’ve come to know many of you and I don’t want to lose the sense of relationship I’ve come to have as we share our thoughts and feelings.
Remember, you can be notified of when I do post by subscribing (if you haven’t already). You can do this even if you don’t have a WordPress account by submitting your email address.
As always, thanks for reading! Until next time …

Good priorities! I could never blog daily, not with a baby and well, life in general, knocking at my door. But writing is important—and necessary— if it can be balanced with the rest of… everything. 😉
Good luck!
I totally understand your decision- ‘balance in all things’ is ancient and valuable advice. Enjoy!
I agree with “you go girl” and I like the Dave Brubeck reference…or am I just living that jazz thing out in my own head.
One of the amazing things that has come out of my short time blogging is that I have gained a clearer perspective on what is really important to me and to living a full life. You wouldn’t think sitting in front of a computer and writing would do that, but you’re writing about yourself, your thoughts and opinions, your questions…even when you comment on other blogs, it is giving you insight into what you really think and believe. Your blog – you – have been a true inspiration to me and have helped me in ways that you won’t know.
I’m happy for you! It’s wonderful to know what you want and need and to go after it. Besides, your health is so important! But I’m glad you’re not going away for good, because we would all miss you.
Go Girl Go! It’ll be a pleasure to read your lessons from the road. I have no doubt it will add new perspectives to your already perspective posts!
Congrats on choosing to keep well and balanced. Will watch for and enjoy future posts!
Minday, ♪♫ So glad to be subscribed…I’ll be watching for you. You’ll be missed. I wrote a piece today that I wondered what you would think about…no temptation…tis true. I will be paring back too…Summer II (summer school) starts back this Thursday. This reader understands. Take care.
oops! Mindy
Is it posted yet?
Ouch! You’re bringing conviction here as well. We joined a fitness center 6 weeks ago and I haven’t been yet!! I blog every day, and this month 7 days a week. I HAVE to make time to exercise – sitting at the computer is not good if this is all I do. I will miss your posts, but I’m grateful the Lord brought us together, Mindy. Have a great break and post when you can!
Blessings,
Debi
Sounds like you have made the best decision for you! You know when they give the speil on the airplane about using the oxygen masks–the adult is reminded to tend to themselves first so they do not pass out before being able to help the little one next to them. Take care of yourself! It is the best for all of us. We will enjoy your posts when they come, on whatever schedule. And your action of taking care will challenge the rest of us to do the same.
You deserve the attention you’ve been giving to us, back to yourself. And while you do, I’ll do my best to make your daily read a relevant part to your day.
I also wanted to personally thank you for subscribing to my blog. It means more than words can say, even though it seems like I have a lot of them to share 🙂
I hope you continue to live, learn, laugh and love reading http://wordsoftheone.wordpress.com/. It’s the fact that you, me and Our One can genuinely share that makes it all worth while. I truly hope all is well with you and you loved ones.

I always thought that writing every day was a lot anyway. Your health is more important.
I write my blog once a week and even that seems like a lot sometimes. I may start recycling the more popular ones.
I’m conflicted and a bit convicted after reading this. First, I’ve been ignoring my physical fitness for a while too. I was a runner at one time but haven’t been “out there” in months. I’m having a terrible time getting my mental side to want to do it again. And I am really going to miss seeing your daily posts. I am subscribed so I’ll not be missing any when you do. Maybe I’ll even have some renewal to get out on the road again. I’ll be watching….
Thanks, Debby. I’ve had the same terrible time getting my mental side on board, too. I think I’m finally there, though, so I don’t want to let it pass by! Good luck getting out there, too!
