Today marks one month since I started this blog, so I decided to take a minute and reflect on what I’ve learned in the past month. I’ve posted every week day since I started, which I find amazing. Quite a few people read what I write, which I find even more amazing. And some even share what I write with their friends, which I find amazingly amazing. Mostly, I’m shocked at how easily I’ve fallen into this process and how much I value it. But I’ll try to narrow it down to three specific observations I’ve made about the past month.
1. Writing has become an important part of my day
I look forward to the time I set aside to sit and write down my thoughts. I’ve journaled on and off over the years, but this is different. Journaling doesn’t really require coherent thoughts. It’s more like emptying the contents of my brain onto paper. That’s part of this process, but now I have to make sure it makes sense. And that’s important (for you and for me.) It helps me organize the thoughts that swirl around in my head and gives me a feeling of peace when I’m done. I can say to myself, “Whew, now I get it.” Or, “Hmmm, I haven’t quite figured this out yet, but that’s ok, because I’ve put my questions into questions.”
2. I haven’t run out of things to say
For some of you, this is a surprise, because I can be very quiet at times. For others, it’s no surprise, because you know that when I get started, I have a lot to say. I’m sure there will be a day when I find myself thinking, “What should I write about today?” But I’m not there yet. I find myself looking at the world and my thoughts as opportunities to say something. This might be a result of turning off my “inner evaluator.” (Well, it’s not turned off completely, but it’s much quieter than it used to be.) You know that voice that says, “You can’t say that, it might make someone mad.” Or, “Are you sure you want to say that? What will people think?” Or the ever popular, “You don’t want to say that, people might not like you.”
I love what Jon Acuff has to say about getting past this feeling. I read it on his blog a couple of months ago and it’s stayed with me ever since.
90% perfect and published always changes more lives than 100% perfect and stuck in your head.
The things you create and actually share will always out perform the things that stay stuck in your head or your desk or your laptop. You might love the ideas you have inside you. You might be blown away by how awesome they are, but if you don’t share them, it doesn’t matter.
A moment of honesty here – there have been occasions in my life where I’ve said to my husband, “Can you believe how smart I am?” Granted, I’m always brought back down to earth quickly, but the thought crosses my mind. And I know the world doesn’t usually think I’m awesome, but take my word for it, it feels great to write down an awesome thought and put it out here for people to read. Even if you don’t think it’s as awesome as I do (which you probably don’t), leaving it stuck in my head is just frustrating.
So, as long as I have thoughts in my head, I’m going to have something to write about. Because now I know the power of putting them on paper (or a computer screen) and sharing them. Thanks, Jon, for helping me realize this!
3. I DO care if you read
When I started this blog, I said it was about taking action. The action being the writing of blog posts. I said it would be okay if nobody read them because I wanted to concentrate on the action of expressing myself. Well, I still value the process of expressing myself (see numbers 1 and 2 above) but I also care if you read what I write. I love the feeling that something I wrote spoke to someone – made them think about something in a new way, helped them know that someone else feels the same way, or made them laugh. It’s a form of connection. And I like it. I especially like it when you let me know what you think. So leave comments. Share links. Tweet links. Write them in paint across the side of your car. Writing is solitary. It’s great when you know someone else is at the other end to receive your words.
So thank you for spending the last month with me. Thank you for reading. Thank you for sharing with your friends. Thank you for your comments and feedback. I’m not sure if this blog has met your expectations. I’m not sure if it’s met mine. But that’s another lesson in itself, isn’t it? Why would this need to meet anyone’s expectations? It can grow in whatever direction it wants to – just like the trees that are my inspiration.

[…] (that counts for something, doesn’t it?) I have to say thank you to Mindy, whose blog post 3 Things I’ve Learned from a Month of Blogging kinda gave me the little kick I needed to do […]
Thanks for sharing content to read.
I am new to blogging, I try to put a little something new everyday in my blog whether it is personal or about Ceiac Disease which is what my blog is about. I did start to get frustrated because I feel no one see’s it let alone reads it. I am inspired by what you wrote and will continue to blog. Thank you
I am very new to the blogging world. I work on putting a little something new each day. I was and still am a little frustrated because I don’t feel anyone see’s my blog let alone reads it. You have inspired me to keep going. Thank you 🙂
I’m just over my three week mark of blogging and I have found it to be cathartic, fun and addicting. I began blogging because I had writer’s block with my book and I discovered a new way to release myself. It has become an important part of my life.
Thank You for this Blog I really needed to read it..You rock and keep sharing you thoughts because they are awsome! 🙂
Thanks!
Wow – well done on being FP. Lucky you! It is the goal of many people on WordPress to be read by the ‘many’ and valued ‘officially’ online.
Keep enjoying blogging. After 6 months I still love it.
Jamie
I especially appreciate what you said in #3 and that you like Jonathan Acuff. That alone will have me reading more of your blog. This post was a great find for someone just starting with only 2 posts done. Thank you!
This is my fourth month blogging with my friend and I really enjoy the process too. It seems like we’re always saying, ‘that would be a good blog post! idea,’ which makes me wonder what we ever did without it! -abi
A very good post. I have been blogging for roughly 3-4 months, and I am still finding new things all the time to use on my blog. My creativity hasn’t dried up, and I hope it never will. Congrats on FP!
Keep blogging….Wordpress is such a great community and it’s refreshing to hear that someone such as yourself receives so much from it.
I started a blog at the beginning of April, and i’ve found it a great thing to be doing. Unfortunately I managed to delete my orginal blog at the end of April whle fiddling with the settings. Big Mistake. So, as the song goes, “I’ve started all over again”
This is the first time I’ve read your blog and I’ve been moved to subscribe! Had did you get a succesful blog so fast? I recently started my own blog, so I’m a rookie new in the game. Have any tips? Check my blog out if you want everdaybipolar.wordpress.com
It was luck really – when I wrote this post I didn’t have many readers, just my friends on facebook. Being featured on Freshly Pressed was the big change – more people were able to find me and read. My only advice is what’s in the post, really … keep writing for yourself, what you feel, and people will read. Even if it’s just a few, if it makes a difference to them, and to YOU, it’s worth doing!
I love this post! I just started blogging three days ago. I was afraid to put myself out there but I took a leap of faith and just hoped for the best. I am writing every day and although my writing may not be the best in the world, I figured I needed to start somewhere. Writing has always been therapeutic for me and there’s something great about sharing your blog with the rest of the world.
Every weekday, for one month. Amazing response. You certainly know how many blogs exist in the planet.
Thanks.
Well done. I’m making it a point to blog every WEEK, and I’m finding it hard! 🙂
Good points…I would note that as someone who really doesn’t write on blogs much (in fact, this may be my first post), I don’t think the term “lurker” is very flattering to a non-posting reader. It’s not your fault really , but perhaps the blogosphere could come up with a better, non-creepy name for the 90% of us that enjoy reading the content .
Sometimes it can be frustrating to communicate in comments and terms come across the wrong way. So, just to clarify, I don’t refer to non-responding readers as lurkers … they’re readers, and I certainly don’t expect everyone to comment. I was just responding – jokingly – to the commenter who said he was lurking then came back to say it might have been a poor choice of words. Either way … I don’t feel like anyone is lurking 🙂 I appreciate any and all readers – whether they comment or not 🙂
Dear Malinda… This is my first day and i dont know what to write about though i have a lot of things in my mind.
In this large pool of bloggers you know how easy it is to be lost in reading than writing yourself 🙂
But your post is inspiring and now i know the coherence of thoughts that is required.
Thank U for inspiring me (and many others)
Keep Inspiring, keep blogging 🙂 )
There are times that when you get up in the morning, the first thing you do is open your laptop and type away on your blog.
I have had that feeling so many times. I like it. I love it.
Excellent! This journey is incredibly rewarding.
I like what you say about the differences between keeping a journal and blogging. I’m a longtime journal keeper and while I do it only for me it certainly has helped me become a better writer.
Writing as often as you do is admirable. I only post to my blog about once a week and while I enjoy it, it’s a tremendous effort.
I’m a teacher too. I teach guitar, mandolin and songwriting in my home studio. I’m also a touring performer.
My blog is about touring, music business, playing music and songwriting. I’d love to be featured in Freshly Pressed but for now I may have to settle for Fresh.
I found #3 to very true of myself as well. At first it was all about me, writing to express myself to myself. But I think in some ways that is just us trying to prepare ourselves if no one finds our writing interesting. How nice to find later that it truly is interesting to the outside world!
Good article!
congrates =)
[…] The thing that finally pushed me to write about this was a post by another new blogger, which was recently chosen to be featured on the Freshly Pressed section of WordPress. In it, she talks about what she has learned and I (along with a couple hundred other new bloggers!) found that I related to it. And it seemed timely, considering I was questioning what I wanted out of this experience. Rather than sum it up here, I’ll just link to it so that you can read it in it’s original form: Today marks one month since I started this blog, so I decided to take a minute and reflect on what I’ve learned in the past month. I’ve posted every week day since I started, which I find amazing. Quite a few people read what I write, which I find even more amazing. Congratulations, may you continue to captivate an audience through WordPress 🙂
Great post.
I have been blogging for approx one year and find myself realising that there is no end to asking yourself questions. What is the final answer? One question can lead to many thoughts from bloggers and their answers gives me another thought. It’s amazing what or how people think. We are all so different.
I would appreciate your thoughts on my blog http://soulbodyreality.wordpress.com/
Thank you
I really don’t care if people hate me for something I said…my blog is about how my mind works, so I say silly things all the time.
I really don’t care if people hate me for something I said…my blog is about my mind works, so I say silly things all the time.
I have been seriously blogging for about a year now and I can’t agree with you more! Your three things are definitely mutual. 🙂
Keep blogging!
This one inspires me a lot. thanks Malinda Essex!
I’m new in blogging, and I find this one very encouraging maybe not only for me but also for those bloggers. I’m looking forward for more interesting words of encouragement from you. By the way, Congratulations on your one month of blogging! C:
Congratulations on your one month of blogging! I think you will learn a lot in the future when you read what you are writing now.Thank you for your sharing!
Congrats to you! I feel like blogging is a different process than just journaling.
I think most of us blogger really look forward that their blogs are to be read by many. Yeah, the feeling that someone could connect to your thought, or even found some new revelations through your posts makes you wanna write even more quality and from-the-heart blogs. However, our ultimate goal in blogging should SIMPLY be to express ourselves.
Nice post 🙂
Congratulations on your one month, I feel like I should give you a chip. Keep writing, keep living, keep thinking, I look forward to reading a lot more from you. I’m new also, not at a month myself yet. You are quite the inspiration, thank you. Laura
I just loved the way you have shared your views with us.Thanks a lot.
Hi mam!
It’s been a pleasure to read your experiences as a blogger. Like you, I don’t get much publicity of my blog, so I do feel desperate sometimes. It would be very kind in your part if you spread the message.
Great post thanks for sharing. You layout is excellent. I enjoy reading your articles all the time.
You are so very right. It is amazing how you start to “think” about how you want to journal something and how you hope people will read it once you put it out there.
I just discover your blog by freshly pressed. I just started blogging so your post make me think about a lot of thing ! I think I’m going to have to read all your past post now. 🙂
Thanks for sharing your experience of blog writing. The points which you have discussed are appropriate and helped a lot in leaning various things.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. With me, I just can’t get enough of blogging, eventually I also ran out of things to say, but then I just can’t help it, blogging has also become an integral part of my life so much that every thoughts has to be penned down on my blog. 🙂
You are inspiring me.. I got this blog from my co-workers on my birthday but I don’t regularly post something to my blog.
I feel I’m lonely and yes, I agree that writing is solitary. By writing and reading others’ blog, I feel more alive in blogging world. 🙂 Thank you for the idea.
You’re welcome! And happy birthday to you 🙂
GOOD LUCK!
I love this post so much. And thank you for sharing that quotation, that really helps me too as a totally new blogger. Like you I do not always speak much, but I have so much to say. Congratulations on all your reads.
Thanks for sharing! I began blogging last October, and I would echo most of what you said. I love the exercise of blogging, and the experience of having people comment on what I say. Like you, I didn’t begin it for an audience, and I don’t want to continue it for that purpose (in case my readers drop off!). But I do enjoy the interaction, and it is always encouraging and moving to me when someone indicates that something I’ve written touched them.
Great job, and congratulations on being Freshly Pressed!
Sheila
Congrats on getting ‘pressed’ after only being a month out! YAY!!! (kermit arm-flail).
Good one, and I wholeheartedly agree with all three! I’d say that never running out of things to say, aka write, has been the biggest surprise for me. Every time I write a blog that I think is really good, I always think to myself…Well, that’s it, I guess. I can’t do any better, and I’ve now officially run out of ideas to write about, so my blog is toast. Then, and it never fails, I always think of something “brilliant” to write about…not sure where it all comes from but it’s like a well that never runs dry. LOL Congrats on being Freshly Pressed!
Blogging is definitely addictive, glad you are enjoying.
So profound.
Great writing and really good feeling about your writing. keep it up i will keep reading your blog
I will be sharing your post with my high school students in Digital Media Publishing. Your comments reflecting on the past month of blogging are important for them to know as they begin their own blogging experience. I think they will appreciate your perspective and be relieved of some of the anxiety of blogging.
Thank you! Pass my encouragement on to them!
I have trouble with my “inner evaluator” as well. I’m struggling to figure out how to shut it up XD
Blog on! This was a great post, and I’m glad to see you’ve been Freshly Pressed!
I haven’t posted a thing on my blog yet but you definitely inspired me to start pouring out my thoughts. thanks!
Great Post!
It addresses most questions I had when I started blogging (which was really only two days ago haha), and it reassures me to keep my site updated more than once or twice a week. The fear of not knowing what to blog about had been swarming around in my head until I made a list of actual things to write down and it really helps! In case nothing spontaneous pops up in my mind, I will have it as a back-up.
Also, I love your quotes in this one. I was talking to two friends about their effort of writing a book and they expressed an idea similar to yours: “The things you create and actually share will always out perform the things that stay stuck in your head or your desk or your laptop. You might love the ideas you have inside you. You might be blown away by how awesome they are, but if you don’t share them, it doesn’t matter.”
It might take time to write things down, but if you do not start somewhere you will have nothing to show and nothing to share.
Congrats on making it into FP, this blog truly deserves it!
I totally agree with everything you have said and yes, it is amazing connecting with people from all over the world and to know they are reading your posts is a great feeling. I enjoyed what you said – and as I like images more than words it is unusual for me to read a longish blog but you kept me there! I shall look out for you posts from now.
Wow! You have been much braver than I in sharing your blog. I started a “public” blog back in March and I also really enjoy the traffic to my site, especially those who leave comments. So I totally concur on #3. I would add that it’s also important to read and comment on other bloggers sites. You never know how you will be inspired by someone else’s random thought.
This is only the first time I’ve read your blog, but let me encourage you to keep it up!
Very true! Thanks for reading!
I’ve been blogging for over a year now and the more into you get, the more into it you put and the more variety you want to add to the content to give it that special touch. It’s also nice to know somebody somewhere read what you wrote.
I’m not new to blogging, but I’m not the best at doing it daily. I always feel like I have to have something to say before I should write it out for the world to read… which often results in nothing being written and with me starting another blog, in the hopes it’ll inspire me. Ahhh well. I needed to read that excerpt from Acuff’s blog – so thank you!
I’ve been blogging since 2003 and never seem to run out of things to say! 🙂
I love this post – especially item number three. I started a food related blog two years ago and at first it was just something I did to practice the process of cooking, documenting and writing about it. I thought I wouldn’t care if people read it, but then I received responses from other bloggers and suddenly it mattered – not because I cared about traffic, but because I had connected with someone. Welcome to the community and congrats on being FP’ed.
Exactly. I’m just in the process of putting that into words to share 🙂 Thanks for reading!
Congratulations, nice blog post. I found it very inspirational.
I cant believe this is your first month of blogging. Congrats for making on FP.
I’m so impressed! I’m also new to blogging. I started it saying to my self I don’t care whether people read it or not, I’ll keep on writing so one day I can read my own thoughts. but everyday when I log in I check for comments or at least the stats! When I see people have actually read what I have written that feels good! However when I post something and see it on my blog that feels more than good!
Congrats for making freshly pressed!
Thank you for this post! I will read more when I don’t have to head out to work.
I recently started a blog, have not posted for days, and feel re-energized by your words. I have found the satisfaction (and fears) of public access to my life and thoughts. The interesting thing is that when I put some of my most potentially controversial thoughts out there, I received the most feedback about how people appreciated reading whatever it was and how it changed something in them.
Way to go! And again, thank you for the reminder of why I started a blog!
Be well
Lisa
I’ve found that, too! Thanks for reading!
I’m about a year into my blog and have had similar revelations, though not as nicely said. Congrats on being FP, and so quickly!
Brilliant.
And love your theme as well.
wow 100% agree with you on this! great post!
I guess the number of blogs replies is why your freshly pressed:) Nice!
Good Job on the first month. I remember the feeling, and now I feel weird if I don’t write each day. Love the post
hey !
congrats on being freshly passed ! that’s amazing ! I’ve been blogging for 6 months only myself. I’ve always had a blog on blogspot but there came a time when I ran out of ideas and I’d just stop blogging. There’d be this MOUNT of enthusiasm in the beginning and gradually I’d come to post only once or twice in a month.
6 months ago I switched to wordpress just for change, with a determination mind, that even if I don’t post everyday, I’ll still keep this as my portal if incase I need to pen down my thoughts regarding myself or anything else.
I really like it when people read what I write, even if it is completely about me. Nothing about the world or any BIG global thing .. just me. I totally get what you mean 🙂
Kudos on your first month. I completely identify with not running out of things to say. I’ve been blogging regularly since March and thought I’d run out of ideas. Not so- I have a lifetime of experiences to share!
As a relatively new blogger too I agree with what you say, particularly around you do end up caring if people read what you write. I am trying not to get to fixated on it, but the first day I got fifty hits I was jubilant!
Keep it up.
Wil
Well said! Thank you for sharing! This pretty much summarizes what I’d like to say about I’ve learned from blogging which I started a year ago. 🙂
And you’re right about the ‘I DO care if you read’ part. It’s always great to know that somebody out there is on the receiving end. It’s always good to know that when we write, somebody out there reads. It’s a connection that can never be replaced. It makes you feel you’re not solitary in your thoughts. 🙂
Congrats for making FP!! Keep up the good work.
I have always written for the love and joy of writing. Whether anyone ever read it was not even a thought for me. But there is nothing for a writer more rewarding than a comment about how you gave someone a new perspective. You tickled their mind in a place they did not even know was there. That reward is better than all the praise and money in the world. To know you helped grow someone’s brain and their Being….priceless!!! Keep up the good work! This is a Freshly Pressed I could have written my self. I have been floating on the consistant number of people who visit my blog daily and am excited to come up with something new for them to enjoy…what a wonderful job and passtime!!! Have a great week!! AmberLena
Congratz!
I really like the post, quite useful
btw, its my second day blogging and I can see what you are point at, (in number 1,2) it is such a great feeling to know that your ideas, experience, thoughts…etc, reach people you never met, inspired them to make change ^_^!
go for it!
I saw this on the FP of WordPress and got intrigued. I’ve been blogging for over a year and have never made it there! Congrats on this achievement in such a short time of blogging.
I’ll take tips from your blog and hopefully, I’ll succeed as you have!
Dad’s Taxi
Keep it up!
im not vry good in english so it makes me hard to post sometimes . but i do enjoy blogging . at times when there was noone at school to listen to me
Hi, your ‘inner evaluator’ point is spot-on
I post once a week with good effort. Will definitely try and write more often
Wouldn’t have come across your blog if it weren’t on FP
-Thanks and Congrats!
I too started blogging and thought the same as you, that it didn’t matter whether anybody read it or not!
Then I found myself drawn to the statistics, where on one day I got 87 readers, that was after just one month, I thought I had made it.
Not so but it’s still early days and for you it’s exceptional to get onto Freshly Pressed, you’re doing something right.. It’s such a nice blog to read and the grammer is good too.. My wife reads my blogs and then gives me a debate about how my grammar sucks!
Anyway just wanted to say ‘well done’!
Wow your blog is amazing… and you only started a month ago!!! insane and you’ve over 250 likes! Congratulations on a great blog!
By the time I got to the bottom of this page, I totally forgot what I was gonna say. LOL 😀
good stuff… i can really relate myself here…;)…keep it up..
Really interesting post! You can tell how much you enjoy blogging in the way you write. I’m new to all of this to its great to see how far you have come in only one month. Hopefully i will start to get the hang of it soon! 🙂
On reading about the 3 things you learnt in one month of blogging, I realized how similar is that we people feel but the only difference is how we express, and this is something that makes the difference. After all, Benjamin Franklin has put it right in words:
If you would not be forgotten as soon as you are dead & rotten,
either write things worth reading,or do things worth the writing.
~Benjamin Franklin
great quote!
Wonderful words, and very apt! 🙂 As a fellow blogger, well done and please keep writing!
(You forgot to mention the dangerous addiction to Stats tho *grin*)
As blogger i like your post! 😀
wow, i’ve started blogging last year (not religiously though) but i’ve never had any comments ever!!..kudos to you!!
Wonderful! Congrats on getting Freshly Pressed. I have also struggled with the “oh dear, no one will like me if I write that” and it’s so liberating to watch it sitting there and take no notice! Keep at it, your writing is clear, well expressed and engaging. x
Wow, I envy you. I’ve also been blogging a month, and i’ve had nowhere near as much success as you have. You are an inspiration, and i’m going to go away from reading this with a new lesson learnt. Thank you! Rebecca.
FP after a month? success!
Good luck & keep ’em coming
1305097911HI Good Good I like it
Great points for people who are interested in learning. Although I feel tired now after blogging for 3 years.
Wow…I was getting a little apathetic about my blog until I read this. Thanks (:
Congratulations on being on Freshly Pressed!
Thank you for sharing this post to everyone. I’ve been blogging on-an-off for a while now, but reading your post inspired me to try to be more diligent in my blogs. I use it as an outlet to vent out my thoughts, compose poems, write about my day, or simply just write my thoughts/observations about the mundane details of everyday living
I think this affirms the fact that blogging is not just a mere outlet, but can be an effective medium/tool to help, inform, and maybe even educate others. I have to admit; I’ve resorted to blogs to learn and get tips on how-to-do’s in housekeeping, get recipes, technical support, as a source of inspiration, practically anything you can think of.
Aside from helping others, it helps you as well. Since blogging requires more coherence than journaling, it allows you to be enhance the way you organize your thoughts and your writing skills and style. Mutually beneficial indeed!
Again, thank you for sharing this to us. I do look forward to reading more of your posts!
Wishing for your continued success! Kudos!
Congratulations for being Freshly Pressed and cool post.
Great post… it motivates me to keep writing…
You are my inspiration. I just joined WordPress yesterday, to start to write-that i thought for 15 years. I’ll write and write follow you. Thank you, nice to read your blog.
Great last paragraph and great quote! As a perfectionist, I used to feel like my blog posts had to be flawless. But I then I never got anything done or written down, so now I blog even though my entries are not perfect little novels 🙂 Congrats on being freshly pressed!
wow, awesome 🙂 so many followers haha~
Cool blog, I am going to have to follow more…I started my blog about a month ago as well, and although I dont post as often, I do really enjoy it!

I started blogging in march so I agree with you. It’s amazing how the blogging experience can teach you a lot about yourself. I agree with you on the 3rd thing, I first started out thinking only of getting my thoughts out there, with no care if anyone read it. But now I realize that I do want to perhaps inspire or entertain someone you know? It’ great!
All I care about when I get home from class is either a good nap or a good blog-time. Congrats on fp!
Alright, so the question on everyone’s mind: what’s your secret for building traffic?
I’ve been blogging for a couple weeks now, and I’d love to hear your advice 🙂 Keep up the good work!
No secret really. Up until now I post everyday’s entry on my facebook page and twitter. I wish there was a secret formula – I’d be rich!
I love this post. You articulate yourself in the way that I think. Does that make sense? In other words, I get you.
I look forward to read other things you have written this month now. And what you might have to say in the future. I understand that thing about just emptying your brain when you journal versus now having (or wanting) it all to make sense when you put it out there for others to read. And how it can help you to find the answers to your questions or “wonderings” because now you have a more concrete start in the series of questions you have put down in writing.
Also, the good feeling you get when someone actually reads what you wrote and gets something useful out of it. That’s so great!

Congrats on being Freshly Pressed!!!
Love todays post…..I am a new blogger as well and share your thoughts on the process!!
Lately I’ve been slowing down….some of it due to bad internet access…but mostly to my own timing issues and not quite knowing how to say what I want to say…you have inspired me to press on….regardless of timing or brain fog!!
thanks!!
Wow! You could’ve been writing about me! I started blogging less than a month ago and my thoughts mirror yours to a T.
Congrats on being Freshly Pressed!
[…] bygones be that. Today I read a nice post about consistency and the discipline cultivated as a result. That is something I have tried and seen the results; […]
Congrats on getting FP after just one month of blogging! I agree, you never run out of things to say. Blogging’s a great outlet. I love finding so many new blogs–everyone has a story to tell!
I was a bit startled by your blog entry. It felt like I was looking in a mirror!
Hi! I thought it was such a fun coincidence that I stumbled upon this particular post of yours because I just wrote how I just celebrated one year of blogging at wordpress!
I don’t write regularly as you do…usually I write when I feel like it or when there’s a need in me to tell the universe what just happened to me.
I wish I did write regularly though…I envy those who do. I’m still stuck with thoughts of “why even bother?” or “would people even care?”…well, not all the time, but I still think about these things.
What you wrote honestly meant something to me. I should not just let thoughts get stuck in my head and concentrate of just expressing myself. Thank you. =)
Nice Post.
i have been realized that became a blogger is interesting, fun, and one of online media can be used around the clock. surfing, posting, entertaining, advertising product and so on. for me it’s not enough just posting and reading what the reader comment about post. 🙂
Congrats on being Freshly Pressed. But more than that, congrats on a month of expressing yourself so well and accomplishing what you started out for.
In all the comments yo have got so far, I guess everything I wanted to say is covered, so won’t bore you with repetition.
Best wishes for the future and I hope I keep getting wonderful posts to read from your blog. 🙂
Malinda, what is your Ph.D in?
Music education
That’s a great accomplishment after only a month. Congrats on being Freshly Pressed.
I can easily say that I agree, through my personal stand-point, that points two and three are what I value most.
However, point 2 was the biggest reason to actually start blogging was with the question “Don’t you think you might offend somebody by saying that?” floating around in my head. With blogging it’s my own personal disclaimer saying “I realize I can’t write about everything everybody will agree on, but don’t step on me for having my own opinion.”
And then point 3 is the fact that I’ve actually enjoyed creating and small “fan-based” group of strangers who are kind enough to like my posts or even comment on my posts! Which actually keeps my interest in the whole blogging-thing. Keep up the great work & best of luck

This is my fourth month blogging with my friend and I really enjoy the process too. It seems like we’re always saying, ‘that would be a good blog post! idea,’ which makes me wonder what we ever did without it! -abi
Congratulations on being Freshly Pressed!
I love what you said about … “Are you sure you want to say that? What will people think?” … yes, it can be scary but that’s also the fun part about blogging, it not only makes you see things throughout your day to write about … but you can get people into action to start thinking themselves.
Enjoy writing and sharing! It’s a gift that so few people take advantage of!

I completely agree with what you wrote; that quote by Jon Acuff is really inspiring! Good luck with blogging! x
Congratulations – now tell me your secret for getting FPd in only a month! How did you attract people to your writing?
I don’t know! Before today it was only facebook friends… and spam. Maybe they put it up so I would stop sending them my referal spam url’s everyday. They figured this way I wouldn’t notice them!
I’ve translated this post into Portuguese in my own blog. I hope you don’t mind.
Congrats, and nice to see someone who has a month under their belt. I’ve just started myself this past week, and I am interested to see what happens.
Keep Inspiring, keep blogging :))
Great post! Congrats on being Freshly Pressed on your blog’s first month birthday. 🙂 It’s amazing how addictive writing becomes–especially when people begin to read and share it.
Keep it up! You, like your blog, are amazing! 😀
Congratulations for being featured!

I agree, you are smart. =)
Lol! Thanks!
What a great post!
Keep it up!
It is indeed nice to express oneself- and even nicer to know that someone else receives that expression. [I believe] It somehow legitimizes our existence to know that there is more to us than what is contained inside our skin…
And I’ve run into a similar problem with journaling vs. blogging. That someone may hear certainly changes the way that I express, and brings clarity to it. Journaling does not have to bring clarity, but it does help to clear.
Thanks for writing!

Hey, so great to see my thoughts in your words, as #’s 1, 2 and 3 all apply — I’ve been blogging for a month and, though I really don’t mind writing “into the abyss” not knowing whether it will be read, I really really get a thrill well people tell me what they like, what else they want to hear about, and when they share with friends. One particular comment of yours about ignoring the “inner evaluator” really encourages me to take go ahead and take more risks with my posts. Thanks for the inspiration! Woohoo on being FP’d!!
I am fast approaching my 100th blog and I still love it. I don’t do it everyday however, just once or twice a week but it’s just part of my writing lifestyle now. Congrats.
100 th blog? Wow! I’m amazed. It takes the toll out of me just to write a single post.
Nice thoughts. I too try to write daily. Sometimes I even make it for two weeks straight. I have very few readers even though my Blog is nearly three years old and I have hundreds of pieces posted. Even fewer readers comment than read, but I don’t care. It is cathartic for me to unload the contents of my mind in a creative way.
Blogging is different for each of us but generally something we get to enjoy, enough to keep with it, even though sometimes it meets our expectation and sometimes it doesn’t…… Yours is a particular experience, a personal one, a reflective one. Keep it as long it feels fine. 🙂
…congrats for being freshly pressed!
Really connected with some of the things you said… well, many of the things you said…erm, maybe all of the things you said! Thank you for sharing and for the courage to share
You know maybe it is also the hypnotic wood grain theme you’ve chosen…very cool when scrolling quickly..;)
Shhh…you found my secret! 🙂
I agree with everything you said, and somewhere along the line I practically wrote the same thing you did…about being amazed that anyone read it and amazed that they liked it. People like real people. They like the realness of others because they …..relate. lol Good post! I liked it! Keep it up! 😀
First of all, congratulations! And second of all, I can see why your blog is so popular, it hits home. I feel exactly the same way when I check my site stats, and every day I think “HOLY COW! Someone read something that I wrote and they kind of liked it!” It’s a great feeling. : ) Keep it up!
Congratulations for being featured!
I am a relatively a new blogger too. I started last year and I feel the same way with you. When you write, your thoughts and words never runs out. There is always an outpour of ideas that you want to express everytime you write.
Felicidades y sigue hacia adelante.
Thanks Mindy. You inspire me to start blogging 🙂

Lovely words indeed.
Congrats on being FPed–and thanks for voicing thoughts that have been in my mind as well about blogging. I have been at this about 2 months and wrote a bit ago about my lessons. Like you, that sense of audience and connection are stronger than I expected. I am also amazed I have things to say several times a week–I am not as ambitious as you! When I was in the classroom, I would always look at everything (news, TV, mailings, friends’ comments, etc) as potential lessons/examples for the classroom. Now, I see the world as a potential blog entry–it helsp me think more creatively. I am loving it!
Thank you thank you thank you. You just summed up how I’ve felt about my new adventures in blogging, which I’ve really only been doing (mostly) daily for just over a month.
It’s been refreshing and more enjoyable than I expected. My biggest hurdle was the “what will people think if I say this” issue. But I think blogging it anyway, sharing it with people I know and don’t know, has made me a more open person in my daily life.
Isn’t it weird how doing something that’s, frankly, rather simple, can actually change you?
Congrats on your first month in, and thank you for sharing the last 30 days with all of us!
This is exactly how I feel. I started about 6 weeks ago and it is a little addicting. I love the site stats section…..have fun!
Nice post. Any tips on how you gotten so many to read your blog? I have been doing a blog for about four months and haven’t gotten too far in attracting readers. I can blog for myself I suppose, but, as you say, it’s always nice to know somebody’s reading.
Until today, it was mostly from my facebook friends 🙂 Keep writing – they’ll come!
[…] Today marks one month since I started this blog, so I decided to take a minute and reflect on what I've learned in the past month. I've posted every week day since I started, which I find amazing. Quite a few people read what I write, which I find even more amazing. And some even share what I write with their friends, which I find amazingly amazing. Mostly, I'm shocked at how easily I've fallen into this process and how much I value it. But I … Read More […]
WOW, only a month of blogging and you’re already Freshly Pressed! You just won the lottery.
congrats!
No kidding! Thanks!
Congratulations for your blog. I’m inspired to start blogging again. I get really sad when nobody reads what I write, and that’s why I deleted every blog I started. But now I’m inspired to start a new one and keep writing. I’ll try to care less about how many ppl reads what I write. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, and keep your good work!
Skuld–
Don’t get discouraged. You can do it!
Plus, think of the great volumes of work you will create over a period of time. View that as an accomplishment in itself.
Not many people have enough motivation to tackle a new project or activity. But you’ve already proven in the past that you have the motivation and the skill. I am sure that you will pick up blogging again and you’ll take pride in your efforts.
🙂

Lovely words indeed.
Congratulations on being Freshly Pressed 🙂 I’m inspired by your blogging!! I thought no one would care what I have to say but it turns out lots of people do and I feel like I am helping people, which makes me feel great!! Great work on the blog, keep it up!!
You’ve inspired me to finally post an entry in my blog, which I started in November and left untouched since. Thanks! 🙂
“Amazingly amazing” ^^
I love your blogs, you’re very honest and very talented at writing. I look forward to more of your posts!
Thank you!
I like what you say about blogging, I can relate to it! I particularly like the quote from Jon Acuff – as someone who is often reluctant to share what I’ve written (and a bit of a perfectionist) it really made me think. Thanks 🙂
Let’s just wait for another year and see what would you say then!
Very true – I think I’ll still mostly the same – except for not running out of ideas.
Now HERE’s a blog I want to subscribe to, and will do just that as soon as I’m finished writing this. Congratulations on your first month as a blogger. I began on April 7, so am about the same time in. Isn’t it fun? I look forward to reading more from you.
Maybe you’d like to subscribe to my blog, at maggiemendus.wordpress.com. I’ll hope to connect.
Poetry! Love it! And thanks for reading!
I like the way u stated things 🙂
This was inspirational to someone who wishes to write 🙂
Congrats on getting to the first page of WordPress.com in your first month!
wow congratulations. i finally got around this bloggin thing today and i decided to find my way around when i got to see your article. wish you more creative days ahead.
How often do you check your site views?
Several times a day usually – way too much!
Congrats! An inspiration for all of us that recently ventured into the blogosphere… and it just so happens that you touched upon some points that I have been mulling around in my mind over the past few days. I am thinking I might finally post about those thoughts – and I’ll be linking back to this post for sure!
I love this! I just began blogging about 4 weeks ago, and now it’s almost a therapeutic necessity for me. And I’m addicted to my stats 🙂 It never gets old. Keep it up!
Brilliant post! You have made me realise I need to find the courage to turn off my ‘inner evaluator’. I’ve now discovered your blog and (in the voice of Arnie) I’LL BE BACK!! 🙂
So glad! Thank you!
I started my blog in January and have to say I am loving it. I wanted to improve my writing as I am currently studying for a journalism qualification in my spare time. I have definitely found that my writing is improving the more I am doing it every day.
I am also more aware of what I read about, hear about on a day to day basis as I am constantly thinking “that would make an interesting article” to write about. I have also started writing for an online magazine too which I am really enjoying – and all of that came from the idea of writing my own blog.
Keep blogging!!
thanks for sharing! I’m working through writing down my thoughts – for somewhat similar reasons, although I must add that I have way too many thoughts inside my head that are difficult to express. This blog of mine that no one reads is my way of getting my thoughts out so they don’t bounce around inside so much!
Congratulations! I started my wordpress blog around the same time you did. I really connected with what you said. I’ve been blogging for years. Now that I have decided to write a “grown up” blog, so to speak, I found that I love doing it. Just like you, I appreciate being about to think about my day. It’s a mental exercise that that got me thinking and noticing the world around me.
A well deserved FP.
I started in March and while I’m still shy of three months, I’m hooked.
I concur! Loved your post – I was the same when I started blogging. I also appreciate that people might enjoy what I’m writing about.
Thanks for posting!!
What a great post! I hope you continue blogging – congrats on your success so far in the journey! I look forward to reading more.
I try not to blog… I find that in the time you spent blogging.. I can spend doing some extra work, which made me extra money, which made my time well spent, and therapeutic at the same time ! Anything you enjoy doing can also probably be done for money….. I just haven’t had anyone offer to pay me to write blogs !
Gosto da forma sincera que escreve! Parabéns!
I just started blogging this week and it inspires me to see you’re still going and haven’t run out of things to say yet! (I worry about that too. Will I be able to do this for a whole year without getting burnt out, right?)
My goal is a year and I tried to pick things that I’m so interested in, I’ll never run out of things to say about—cooking and sustainability but you’re doing whatever comes to your head. Kudos for that! I think that’s the hard way.
I love having the freedom of this space to say and hear what we’re all thinking. In a world where many of us feel alone, it goes to prove we really are all in this together.
Thanks for writing this!
Congrats on making it a month on your blog — and for making Freshly Pressed! I like this reflective post, as I think it’s worthwhile to think about what has been learned. Sounds like your desire to start a blog and write has been paying off for you and your writing. I started a blog last year, and it’s been great for my creativity. I’ve had lots more ideas about personal projects (illustration, poetry, and painting) than at any year before. Glad to hear that you’ve had success — keep up the writing!
Well, we’ll see what you have to say after 3 years of blogging 😉 But this looks promising.
Yaye! I like this post, and I can relate. I started my blog last year after losing my job so that I’d have something to do as I looked for new work. It’s brought me so much purpose which I didn’t expect and I am very committed to it! You’re a fantastic writer. I like what you said about the “inner evaluator”… it feels good to hush it, doesn’t it? 🙂 Congrats on being freshly pressed. hugs, dara
Congratulations on being freshly pressed. Am a fairly new blogger myself, and it is true – there is a sense of accomplishment when you click ‘publish’, and a sense of joy when others read and comment. Whether they agree or disagree, like or dislike a post, it is nice to be part of something greater than ourselves, and to know that somewhere, somehow you have made someone smile, or think, or both.
So, keep on blogging and enjoy the ride!

Wow such a wonderful, powerful, and yet touching article that you’ve written. It was such an inspiration to read. So much so that It has touched the hearts of some many wonderful people.
I actually started blogging back in 2010, but I quit after that because I got upset because no one was reading what I had to say. I felt like a failure at the time. So with that being said, I recently felt the need to start my blog again in February 2011.
Now, I’ve seem to have run into the problem where people come to read what I have to say, but they rarely leave any comments. So, I guess it takes place in a certain time and fashion. It would be such a dream come true and an honor to be freshly pressed like you one day.
Thank you again for sharing this refreshing article with us and Congrats on being Freshly Pressed Yay !!!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Even though I’m sure i’ll never get many readers, I like the idea of presenting my thoughts to others in a coherent way.
Please bear in mind though, I am not a literary person, i’ve never tried to write my thoughts down before I started (very recently) my blog.
Maybe with good blogs, two things go hand in hand, your growth in being able to express yourself, and the number of readers you gain.
Welcome to Blogmania and congrats of being FP!
I consider myself quite a fledgling at blogging after almost 6 months at the ripe old age of 54. Your words ring true to most if not all of us.
My blog tends to be from the viewpoint of an older partner of an interracial gay couple with older adult kids. LOL. Makes for an interesting challenge to say the least.
Good luck with the flow of ideas to write about. It IS a passion to be shared for sure!

I love hearing other viewpoints! And yours is pretty unique! Thanks for reading 🙂
I’m having a similar experience … just not as frequent … I aspire to be included on Freshly Pressed and await my time!!! Keep blogging
This is interesting. I’m quite amazed at the number of comments. Wish you the best.

This a well written and thoughtful posting about one of my “loves.” That being my blog site with WordPress. I have it for quite some time. It is the second one that I have posted mainly featuring my non-profit published and unpublished spiritually centered poetry to serve the “The Homeless Cause of Texas. Between the two blogs I have had over 30,000 hits over a two year period.
Knowing that what I write in making a difference in the lives of others, has become very important to me. I cannot put a value on my blog, because it has brought me so much in peace, and satisfaction in my interaction with others on the net.
I am currently supporting two important “Citizen Servants” in my community of McKinney, Texas that are running for positions on the city council of McKinney, Texas. My research into why these individuals are the best choice for my community, may actually make a difference in the final vote tally…..hopefully in their individual wins.
Truly, the power of the written word can change all our lives into a more positive direction in our futures. I feel blessed in being able to that with my own blogging.
You spoke the words that were on my tongue! Lovely 🙂
I absolutely relate to every point you have made. I only recently started blogging and enjoy it so much. Actually I think its bordering on obsession but thats something else. Anyway great post x
There once was time when those who loved to write could only get their works read if:
1. They wrote letters to the editor or opinion columns for the local paper, and were lucky enough to get them chosen for printing.
2. They became a published author.
3. They wrote newsletters or other self-published missives that they sent out to the readers, who mostly felt obliged to read them.
But now, there’s blogging.
Congrats on being Freshly Pressed, and don’t be surprised if I turn this comment I just wrote into a post on my blog, because now that I’ve written it, I feel I have more to say.
Thank you for sharing your blogging experience! I can totally relate to everything you are saying! Ever since starting my blog, I always feel the exciting urge to write all time.
Great post! My blog is only a few months old, and you pretty much hit everything I’ve realized/discovered since starting it. Especially love: “Writing is solitary. It’s great when you know someone else is at the other end to receive your words.” The writing of it is great, but that feedback and interaction is really key as well.
Congrats on Freshly Pressed!
congrats on being FP’d! love this post. i started blogging in february because “they” say every writer must have an online presence. turns out, i’m more into my blog right now than writing my novel. oops! enjoy! 😀
I’m a screenwriter and I’ve totally lost touch with scripting because I like blogging now. I’ve never been Freshly Pressed but o well, the act of doing it is enough! LOL!
Loved to read your experience.
Care to read my experience, a click away, wrote it after 12 days of regular blogging
http://alivealways.wordpress.com/2011/04/13/the-wordpress-experience/
It’s so much better when you write, you are no more secretive. It’s a bliss.
I too am new at this blogging game, but I’m really enjoying it and love the new found freedom I feel in sharing my writing; scary but good!
I enjoyed reading your post and congrats on the FP 🙂
Great post! Congratulations on getting on Freshly Pressed – I found this blog on that!
Congratulations on your one-month blog anniversary AND being Freshly Pressed….what an accomplishment for you!
Look forward to reading your future posts.
Blessings,

AGREE!
Love the post!
Congrats for FP
😀
A very good post. I have been blogging for roughly 3-4 months, and I am still finding new things all the time to use on my blog. My creativity hasn’t dried up, and I hope it never will. Congrats on FP!
Enjoyed your post. I have two blogs and on my marketing-oriented blog, I am considering doing a 30 day series on how to make blogging a habit (more for a business blogger, than a personal blog.) What’s interesting, is that I have had a lot more success writing consistently for my personal blog. Probably due to many of the things you point out above…especially the 90% perfect. For me, it’s easier to write about daily life vs. professional enrichment. You have given me some food for thought. Thanks! And, Congratulations on being on FP!
And, please feel free to check out either of my blogs: http://www.rootbeermarketing.com (small business marketing blog) and http://www.saturdaylongruns.wordpress.com (weekly musings on fitness, aging and the farmer’s market). If I link back to your blog in one of my posts, I’ll make sure to let you know!
really cool
Very cool. Blogging is pretty cathartic. This is my first time reading your blog. I’ve been blogging transparently for only a few months and all the chaos that was in my mind has been sorted out. I was able to get to the place where I didn’t care what people thought or if I’d be stepping on any toes.
Grateful to read a blog like yours. Do ya thing.
I’m just getting started myself and am enjoying reading everyones blogs. Thanks for sharing.

Doc,
You absolutely had me once I saw Jon Acuff! I am a big fan of his! Thank you for this post, I recently started my own blog and this was atrue encouragement!
Thanks again!
Malinda,
I just stumbled onto your blog and then these last few comments. I think everything happens for a reason. Here’s what I think of your post… I am delighted and thrilled that you are blogging. I love the way you write and what you’ve got out of this past month. I am inspired to keep going with my own blog, despite the difficulties I am encountering today. I was inspired to begin blogging by my father who is undergoing cancer treatments as we speak. He is an amazing man and I am trying to write as a way to process my feelings and honor the most important man in my world. I am anxious to read what you have to say about your father.
Best Wishes,
Val
Love it! I’ve been blogging for almost two years now and can see exactly what you’ve written about here. And I love that John Acuff quote about sharing your thoughts; so true!
Keep at it and congrats on FP! (I have yet to make it that far)
Congrats on being Freshly Pressed. I enjoyed the post and will be coming back to the blog.
The great fun of blogging should be, I think, creating a conversation with your readers. I’m amazed and delighted to have people around the world reading my blog now, and enjoy a multi-cultural, global perspective, whether from Canada or New Zealand.
Writing is fun, but the very best bloggers are always aware that their blog is not a personal journal but meant for others to enjoy.
“The perfect is the enemy of the good” is a useful phrase…as you said somewhat differently. Better to be in the game than standing on the sidelines wringing your hands.
it was an aha moment finding your blog and though i have not read all that you wrote (its time for me to be in bed) I shall share it with you. I was just saying a little prayer for my dad
in thanks for all the things he did for us as kids while waiting for your site to load up and the first thing I read was you writing about your dad. Good night and God Bless
Thanks for sharing that 🙂 I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the day I wrote about my dad is the day I end up on Freshly Pressed (for a completely different post.) Almost like he’s letting me know something 🙂 Sweet dreams 🙂
Wow – that was a lot of smileys. Sorry about that 😦
You have started a very nice blog here! And Congratulations on being chosen for FP already! Love the Jon Acuff quote!
awesome!! I learned the same things too actually
i have to agree with you. i’ve just starting blogging almost 2 months ago. i’ve never kept a journal, but started to and am actually enjoying writing. i thought i would run out of things to write about too, but i’m finding otherwise. and it makes me happy when people read what i write and like it. thanks for sharing!
Found you through FP. Well deserved! Where you go I will follow.
Your point’s or learnings are totally valid and the same thoughts Im having! Ive just started myself and am finding that I’m keeping in mind all the things you have said here too! I like your writing style! Keep it up! x
I started a blog on Friday and I´ve got that feeling already!!
Loved the post!
Congrats.
Congratulations on getting Freshly Pressed! But more importantly….
….keep on bloggin’!
I am practically a newborn at blogging, just a few days old. I’m still hoping no one reads my blog in case I say the wrong thing, whilst at the same time hoping someone does – eventually. You are right that if we worry too much we’ll never write anything at all! What would be the point in that. I feel a bit more hopeful about the things I might write now, so thank you. (If that made any sense at all).
Congrats on your first month! I’m impressed you can write that often. Keep up the great work.
❤ Milieu
I’m still trying to get used to the idea of other people reading and getting to know my way of thinking and also getting the hang of this website. There are just so many things to cover and get familiar with. I’ve never used a blog before I signed up September of last year, but I feel as time goes on it keeps getting better and better. Thank you for posting this post.
Reading this is like reading my own thoughts. Same here, can’t do without it. Since I started, I can’t seem to stop, like I’ m on fire. The ideas keeps flowing. Everything around becomes a different perspective, your senses heightened. And as you said, we do care that people read about them. To me that’s the ultimate reward. To be able to share a piece of you that others can relate, and hopefully make a positive difference in their lives, to bring a smile on their face, to cheer and make them laugh, to inspire. Congrats . Great post
wow. i really liked the: “90% perfect and published always changes more lives than 100% perfect and stuck in your head.”
There’s so many things i hadn’t write in my blog cuz i think they will be lame, but u are right, the fact that someone reads it(even just 1 person) and enjoys it makes it worth.
🙂
Congrats on being freshly pressed! I am so in awe of anyone who blogs daily. I was hoping to do weekly posts, but haven’t even managed that yet. It is totally fun though, it’s like having a big scrapbook where you can write and add pictures and somehow it even gets published. I do a garden blog, and it has really opened my eyes to the wonders of the internet. I’ve only done a few posts, but I’ve talked to people from 3 continents. Wow! If we could only harness this connection for “good”. The possibilities really are endless. Keep up the great work…..
I am a newcomer to the blogging world, and I can honestly say I hope I discover the same (or at least similar) things you did. I started doing this a couple of weeks ago as something to occupy some of my time, and I hope it can develop into something more than that. Although the second thing you learned is my biggest problem. Perhaps I can get there someday; even if it takes a year rather than a month.
Very well written by the way. Congrats on the FP! 🙂
Thanks for sharing this. I’m glad I stumbled upon your blog today. Gave me some sort of encouragement to think better of blogging.
Hi – congratulations on the FP!
I agree with your comments and insights – I have been blogging for a few months – mostly about living in New York City, and researching family genealogy – and I love it.
Like you say, it’s nice to get it out of your head.
Check out my site:

Wow and holy cow. Thanks to all of you for your comments! I don’t think I can respond to all of them, but know that I’ve read them all and your encouragement means so much to me. It’s what I’ve hoped all along – that someone would read my blog and identify with what I’m saying. Thank you, thank you, thank you for reading!

Wow, so true and inspiring at the same time. I just started blogging myself (as in really just started, only wrote 3 blogs as of today) and makes me make time to write more 🙂 Thanks! and Congratulations 🙂

Congratulations on being Freshly Pressed! I agree with all 3 of your main headings, in fact I would go so far as to say that I have found more to say with each post.
Hope you keep enjoying living the moment!
You have given me food for thought. I’ve been blogging about food for 18 months and I, too, thought I would run out of ideas, recipes, in short, steam. But it seems that my posts generate more ideas.
Writing is so important. How can you express what you know without putting it into the written word and reflecting on it?
Getting responses is a big kick. I just got a comment from someone in Kuwait and I have a small following in Slovenia who were attracted to my stained glass cookies. Blows my mind.
Carry on and have fun.

This is a really nice and honest post. This is how I felt about blogging too. No matter what, just do it for yourself. Congratulations for being “freshly pressed” just after 1 month.
Keep it up!

Thank you for sharing your lessons learned. This post immediately caught my eye this morning since I have just begun to post this week. I’m especially encouraged by lesson No. 2.
wow, i really am impressed. Keep it up. 🙂
Congratulations on being Freshly Pressed and that quote is quite brilliant -“90% perfect and published” It could apply to so many things really where action is necessary. Enjoy your blog!
It really is an awesome feeling when you get a good idea and write it down for others to read. I like to pretend that everyone likes it just as much as I do. It helps inspire me to keep on writing. 😉
I haven’t spent the last month with you and i hope to spend the next month with you.
One month of blogging and freshly pressed – I’d say you’re going to have a fun time going forward! 🙂 Congrats.
[…] some others destroyed and some others haven’t seen the light of day. Today I was readin an entry about the things you learn when you start blogging. I totally agreed with the article and it lead […]
The first month and on the WordPress main page 🙂
Congratulations, and enjoy the ride!
keep it on!your blog appear to the first page of wordpress, what a great job you’ve done! You encouraged me!
Thank you so much!
It’s always a great feeling when someone else reads your blog and appreciates what you’ve said. Thank you for blogging and bringing pieces of writing toi amuse us during our days!
Great post!
Welp, it looks like you got your wish times a thousand today in terms of getting readers! Wahoo!!! Keep up the writing!
perfectly stated!!
@ #3. I think you’ve done it!! Way to go and congrats on being Freshly Pressed 🙂
You’re right about not running out of things to say. It’s “amazing” that this blog puts me in the blogger’s seat,…not daily, but weekly is fine with me. When I get an idea I go ahead and type in a tentative title, so the ideas are there waiting for me. I look forward to reading more on your site. Congratulations on being Freshly Pressed.
i love your blog! and to me when I started blogging I never knew that people read my blog and when I realized that.. I became greedy. I wanted more and more people to read my blog thinking that if some people like it then everyone else likes it!
love.
summer.
Amazing post!
Well, after only a month, it seems you have quite a following … and now Freshly Pressed status. Yay!
I, too, find blogging/writing to be a fundamental part of my life. But I recently went through a court battle (my ex was suing me to stop my blog), so that right was threatened. It’s amazing how important it becomes when your rights are in jeopardy!
Congrats to you — and keep it up!
Hope you keep blogging up and don’t get frustrated anytime soon. Also hope that you won’t deny so many commentator’s comment by not replying to them, which I find very common in bloggers.
Awesome post. Well written and it really captures why many people blog. I loved this post and I think your blog is great… keep writing!
I just started blogging too, I cannot wait to find out what’s next in the blogging world!
Good post. I share all of these same thoughts!
Great post, well deserved of Freshly Pressed! Congrats. I’m new-ish to the blogging scene too, it’s overwhelming but I’m really drawn into the process. I still have many topics I want to ramble on about.
That’s true! We care much more about what others read…something wasn’t common to happen before… 😉
Great post and congrats on being Freshly Pressed. As a blogger one thing I really have enjoyed, aside from the creative outlet is seeing familiar people comment repeatedly. It’s just nice.
Thanks for writing down my thoughts and feelings! I have been blogging for roughly the same time – mostly in Greek which is probably completely useless to you! – for exactly, it seems, the same reason: getting thoughts written and wanting others to read and react – share, comment, agree, disagree, whatever. Keep up the good work!
Congratulations on being on the front page!
I too recently started a blog. Like you, it started as a way to get my thoughts out. I am a mum to four kids with special needs, and I needed an outlets to release some steam.
But it has turned into so much more than that for me!
Keep up the great work! I cant wait to read some more!
Bella 🙂
Beautifully written article, thank you for sharing this with us, you have been liked!
I can relate to your sentiment, being active in the blogosphere for only 2 months myself. For me it’s replacing the work that I was doing on my Master’s degree. I graduated last Friday and the discipline of writing a blog has allowed my brain to seemlessly engage in another challenging activity. I love it.
Haha! I love how true all of these things are!
I’ve started a blog.
Well, really … I’ve found a blog name and now I’m beginning to design my Home page.
I’m inspired by Mindy’s post I just need to take the plunge and begin to write. I’m also tempted to keep it ‘private’ because I’m afraid (of what?) … I know it sounds irrational. I’m taking baby steps, I guess.
Thanks for a good read. I’ll be back!
I can so relate to this being new to blogging myself. And when I started, trees were the very first thing in mind! congrats on FP! 🙂
I was FP-ed three weeks after starting my blog and it was amazing. Now that you’ve been FP-ed, people will really, really read! So hang on for the ride. And congratulations.
Kathy
I started a blog at the beginning of April, and i’ve found it a great thing to be doing. Unfortunately I managed to delete my orginal blog at the end of April whle fiddling with the settings. Big Mistake. So, as the song goes, “I’ve started all over again”
Oh! What a downer!
Great post! The fact that you made FP, means someone is reading and liking it! Congrats! 🙂
I agree with everything you said re: blogging. And I love this quote: “90% perfect and published always changes more lives than 100% perfect and stuck in your head”. So true!!
Wow! Only a month into a blog and you’re Freshly Pressed! Great job!
Exactly! already over 200 responses here… Amazingly amazing, man!
Best always,
Sosha
“We all know it is hard for anything deep within you to emerge. Blogging, or rather sharing, letting people touch those soft, vulnerable places inside you is difficult, and downright scary at first.”

I quoted myself from one of my own blogs as an act of self realized awesome you mentioned. But, unlike you, I stopped. I stopped sharing, which isn’t so awesome. Funnily enough, I started another blog, wordsoftheone.wordpress.com, which I will not stop. You’ve inspired my own rings (in fact I just wrote about trees yesterday), and I thank you Malinda Essex, Ph. D. I look forward to growing with you.

Great quote! Do you know the work of Brene Brown? She talks of the power of being vulnerable, very much like your words. I’m glad you started writing again – and thanks for reading.
